Why is it better to board a dog at someones home rather than a large boarding facility?

Updated: Feb 28, 2023

Just like people, dogs do not like to be around a lot of strangers for a long period of time. Dogs feel more comfortable when they are getting the most attention from one person and are on a set schedule. They pick up on routines very fast and although they love to learn new things, they still can get anxious with so many changes at once. While boarding with us, we take extra precautions with your dogs mental state as well as their physical state. We make sure they are always watched for and get plenty of mental and physical enrichment. We make sure there are things they can chew no and watch for things they are not allowed to chew on and keep an eye on them at all times if they are roaming around. Dogs love to make friends, but only with a couple dogs at a time. They get overwhelmed going into a large boarding facility and 10+ dogs run up to them all at once. They get scared and may lash out because they do not know what is going on. When they stay with us, they always will be around the same 2 dogs that we own that we have trained ourselves. Knowing that they have some canine companions to show them the ropes at our place, makes them feel more at home and more relaxed throughout the day while their pet parents are out on their endeavors. This also makes a pet parent feel more at ease; that their furry friend won't be in any danger to multiple strange dogs who may lash out or gang up on the "new dog". Large boarding facilities typically have 1 person looking over 15+ dogs at once while at our place, there are 3 other dogs allowed at a time, to make sure the dogs are not overwhelmed and we can give all our love and attention to them. We always strive for the best for the babies that stay with us! We play in the pool, snow, capture the flag and have a bunch of tennis balls for everyone to play with. Best thing is, they’re allowed on the beds and couches too! There are plenty of dog beds for everyone to hang out on too. We hope to host you pup(s) soon!
